/UCWE/ - Two Little Hands Productions, creators of the popular Signing Time! video and DVD series designed to show babies, toddlers and young children how to communicate using sign language even before they learn to speak, today announced the release of three new titles. Each new title will utilize the same proven, engaging, and fun methods that have previously been used in the series to help children learn to communicate through American Sign Language (ASL).
The three new releases are titled Leah’s Farm, The Great Outdoors and Zoo Train – teaches ASL to hearing children in a way that empowers them for future success in learning, communication, self-confidence, and verbal skills.
Signing Time! combines the power of music with the power of movement. It is a multi-sensory, interactive program that engages a child’s eyes, ears, and whole body. It encourages interaction through signing, singing, speaking, and even dancing along with the show. Rachel Coleman is captivating as the singing and signing host. Her young friends Leah (who is deaf), Alex, and their frog Hopkins, provide a playful peer-to-peer learning experience.
“Signing has been such a powerful force for good in the lives of so many children (including my own). It is truly rewarding to share the fun and see the difference that ASL is making in the lives of so many children,” said Rachel de Azevedo Coleman, co-founder of Two Little Hands Productions. “With my own children, and from literally thousands of parents we talk to, there is strong evidence that learning ASL has resulted in fewer tantrums, better reading skills, larger vocabularies and even higher IQs. I sincerely hope that through our series, even more lives will be touched.”
The themes for the new titles are animals and the great outdoors and will include new, original songs by Coleman, a trademark of the series. Leah’s Farm will be about favorite farm animals. The Great Outdoors will take the viewer’s on a hike and will teach children about the animals that live in the woods. Zoo Train will invite children to hop on the Zoo Train and learn new signs for animal friends at the zoo.
As early as nine months, babies and toddlers can learn to communicate through signs and research shows that children who learn to sign may experience reduced frustrations and fewer tantrums, enhanced cognitive development and increased IQ scores, increased bonding with parents, increased interest in books, and quicker development of speaking, spelling and reading skills.
