/UCWE/ - Hassle Life Entertainment announced Thursday that rap artist Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R.’s lead single “Always,” from his upcoming album This Herre City, has debuted on Nielson’s SoundScan Top 100 singles sales chart at #40.
The single was officially released in stores December 13th, and its position was based on sales data provided to SoundScan from retail outlets across the country. For perspective, 50 Cent’s “Window Shopper” was #43, Nelly’s “Grillz” was #23 and Young Jeezy’s “Go Crazy” held down the #20 spot.
“We’re definitely proud of Spaide and all that he has accomplished so far with ('Always'),” says Hassle Life CEO Boo. “However, this is just a start for us. We plan on making some major moves in the ’06 and we look forward to dropping hit single after hit single.”
Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R’s spot on the Soundscan chart shouldn’t come as a surprise to rap fans, as “Always” has been burning up the airwaves on radio stations in and around the Midwest and Dirty South for the last few months. The independently released single has also had dance clubs and adult gentlemen’s clubs throughout those regions going hard as well.
“Timing is everything,” says Boo, “and right now we feel as if it’s Spaide’s time to shine and show music fans across the country how talented a performer he really is.”
Nielsen SoundScan is an information system created by Nielsen Media Research that tracks sales data for singles, albums, and music video products for Billboard and other music industry companies. MTV, VH1, and many other cable music channels use Nielsen SoundScan data as well.
Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R, dubbed the People's Champ of St. Louis, is the dread-locked emcee known for his profanity free lyrics. Recently voted the Riverfront Times 2005 Best of St. Louis Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Spaide continues the independent grind that has lead to overtures from major labels. His album This Herre City will drop in early 2006. For more info on Spaide R.I.P.P.E.R. or to hear a snippet of "Always," please log on to
