/UCWE/ - Divorce is at an all time high. The statistics are staggering, there are already 2 million divorces a year. As couples walk down the aisle together they might not say this out loud, but they're probably thinking it "If it doesn't work out, I can always get a Divorce...." Yes, 50-60% of newly-weds today will experience divorce because they finally acted on this subtle thought. Look at the cost of divorce, legal aid alone came to $178 million last year, just part of $9 billion spent helping people cope with the aftershocks of freedom - enough to pay for 10,000 primary schools or a quarter of the health service. More than a million children today are paying a far higher price than ever realized, and it has taken a broken generation for us to come to our senses. Children from divorced homes are four times as likely to have problems with behavior, nightmares, bedwetting, and stomach pains. They do worse in the classroom and are more prone to depression.
What has happened? Why do people rush to the altar only to end up in court years later? What kind of life can they expect after it's all over? Shouldn't they reconsider? The answers to these questions aren't easy. Some researchers say that "growing apart," "not feeling loved & appreciated," "sexual problems" and "finances" are the top reasons for divorce. Instead of going to counseling, or a parishioner, couples often feel there is no hope, so to them, the only way out is divorce.
Can your marriage be saved amidst these staggering statistics? Yes, say Amy Waterman, M. A.

Look at what this one couple had to say after receiving help for their marriage "...I feel very lucky and blessed that we were able to turn our marriage around like this. My husband used to spend as much time as he could away from home. Now we are so in love and it’s funny now he had to go away for the week we have been talking on the phone every day. We can't wait to see each other again!" Renee Walsh, Portland, USA
Many couples have bounced back from a vast range of seemingly irreversible problems. Any marriage, even relationship can and do get fixed.
