The Corduroy Appreciation Club condemns the corduroy ban on taxi drivers in England.

/UCWE/ - The Corduroy Appreciation Club (CAC) strongly condemns the corduroy ban imposed upon taxi drivers at Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth railway stations in East Anglia by One Railway. The CAC will present One Railway with a petition to stop the corduroy ban in the coming days.

Founder of The Corduroy Appreciation Club, Miles Rohan, responded to the ban: “Corduroy has been an esteemed fabric and integral part of fashion, clothing and Western culture for more than two centuries. Instituting a ban on corduroy is a curtailment of freedom itself. We, The Corduroy Appreciation Club, stand in solidarity with the taxi drivers of Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth and encourage their wearing of corduroy.”

The Corduroy Appreciation Club was founded in 2005 in New York City. There are over 350 members worldwide. Meetings only occur on dates with the number 11 involved. Eleven is the number which most closely resembles corduroy. All attendees must wear at least two items to meetings. More information on the club can be found at www.corduroyclub.com. The group’s next meeting is on Wednesday, 1/11. 7-9 PM at The Dove Parlor. 238 Thompson Street.
