/UCWE/ - Video gaming is on the rise and according to the NPD Group, consumer spending on PC games alone reached $1.5 billion in 2005, while online subscriptions to PC gaming and gaming web sites accounted for $344 million. McDonald's restaurants are joining in the action with the launch of the first ever Midnight Gaming Championship, a gaming competition occurring at McDonald's restaurants across the Dallas/Fort Worth Texas area.

Produced by Video Gamers League, Midnight Gaming Championship competitions will occur from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. every Saturday beginning September 23, 2006 and run through mid-November, culminating with the championship on Saturday, November 18.

Each week, players can register online at http://www.midnightgamingchampionship.com for a chance to play in one of three different gaming tournaments each Saturday night.
