HOUSTON, TEXAS, (NAMC) - Ten unsigned Texas bands battled it out at Houston’s live venue, The Meridian on Saturday April 2nd, 2005 as part of the unique unscripted TV series Unsigned.
Sponsored by SugarHill Recording Studios, Budweiser and 94.5FM’s The Buzz the show’s concept is to search for Texas’ hottest unsigned bands. The winning band will receive a lucrative two song recording deal at the legendary SugarHill Recording Studios and a once in a lifetime chance to perform at Buzzfest, on Saturday April 23rd, 2005.
The 10 bands were Silverleaf, Glass Intrepid, Next Best Thing, Strutmore, Makeshifte, Ben Zephyr, Deep Ella, The Applicators, Ben Skistmas and Anubis. Each band was allowed to play one song, where they were then judged by some of the industry’s top professionals including Joanne Grand (Head of Rock/metal promotions at RCA Records), Don Jantzen (Music Director of 94.5FM’s The Buzz) and Paul Nugent (Artist Manager and Indie Label Owner)
The bands were critiqued on their song performance, musicianship, overall appearance, and their future in the music industry. Some of the brutally honest feedback given by the judges may have stirred up some of the bands’ supporting fans; however, it’s the fans that have the final say on who will become the winning band through a voting ballot that was provided at the end of the show on Saturday. Viewers will also be able to vote online, once the show airs.
The show airs on Sunday April 17th, 2005 on local Channel 51 KNWS at 1:30pm and vote for your favorite band!
