Playboy Model and International DJ Roxanne Dawn Comes Out on Feb 19 in Los Angeles to Fight For a Cause
/UCWE/ - On February 19, 2011, Playboy model and International DJ Roxanne Dawn will be coming out and fighting for a cause at the First Annual "Fighting for a Cause" Red Carpet Event benefiting the non-profit ogranization Knock Out Dog Fighting being held at The Falcon Hollywood 7213 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood California at 8pm.

About Roxanne Dawn

Ask yourself this: how many times have you gone out to see a DJ and saw a female behind the decks, much less one known as much for her skill as her looks?

Roxanne Dawn feels your pain. The daughter of a singer and student of music, the "Turntable Temptress" has deejayed alongside such legends as DJ Skribble, DJ Rap, Dave Navarro and Tommy Lee at everywhere from Chicago’s Crobar to the Playboy Mansion in Cali. Don’t get it twisted. There’s a reason why Playboy asked her to be in their Natural Beauties, Exotic Beauties and Cyber Girl features. But for Roxanne, and the countless fans that dance to her sets, music comes first, second and third.

In fact, Roxanne is far from a stranger in the music world. After years of piano, violin and vocal lessons in her hometown of Chicago, she was signed to S.O.S./Polygram Records at 18 under the name Katrina, giving her debut performance at France’s Midem festival, the world’s largest music festival. Her tenacity was honed during this period, as the singer would call the label personally to set up her own auditions for the chance to get signed. After performing in stadiums around the world, Roxanne would always sneak off to the club for post-show festivities. Once there, you could usually find her near the DJ booth studying their movements and skills and eventually teaching herself how to mix, blend and fade.

As the practice intensified, so to did demand for her services. Being a woman is tough in a male-dominated industry, but that has only made Roxanne work harder. Sure, every once in a while, you’ll get some jackass who glares at her skeptically and disapprovingly, wondering if "this hot girl" even knows what a turntable is. That’s when she starts spinning and disgraces the naysayers.

To bastardize an already cheesy quote: It's always darkest before the Dawn.
