Cast your Vote for the KIDS FIRST! Best Film Awards

/UCWE/ Sante Fe, NM - It’s time for festival participants to shine as the Coalition for Quality Children’s Media announces the nominees of its sixth annual KIDS FIRST! Best Awards.

Fifteen categories—plus a Best of Fest award—honor works by studios and independent producers. Any visitor to the KIDS FIRST! website, www.kidsfirstmedia.com, may vote. The awards ceremony is November 19th during the Starz Denver International Film Festival.

“Each year, the KIDS FIRST! Film and Video Festivals grow considerably, reaching new outlets throughout the United States and its territories,” said Ranny Levy, Founder and President, Coalition for Quality Children’s Media. “It was more difficult than ever to select the nominees for this year’s awards. We are extremely pleased with these 80 nominees from the more than 350 titles screened at our KIDS FIRST! Film and Video Festival during the last 12 months. Just like the producers, I can't wait to see the results of our audience voting online.”

The fifteen awards are divided by age and category, each category having four age groups: 2-5; 5-8; 8-12; and 12-18. The categories are: Best TV Series; Best Feature; Best Independent Short; Best Independent Series; Best Independent Feature. There are also two student categories for Best Student Film by students in grades K-12 and Best Student Film by College/Graduate Students which are voted by a live panel of peer jurors. All winners from these 15 categories qualify as nominees for five Best of the Fest Awards.
