/UCWE/ In 2004 Jim French Productions, Inc. launched their first "Raffles" episodes across the United States on over 130 radio stations, through XM Satellite and internationally on the Internet. The first CD followed shortly after and now – in the Spring of 2005—Raffles' second CD is available to his adoring fans. This new single-disc volume consists of three episodes: "Gentlemen & Players", "Le Premier Pas" and "Out of Paradise" starring Cynthia Lauren Tewes of "The Love Boat".
A contemporary of Sherlock Holmes, the character of A. J. Raffles debuted in England in the 1890's and was written by E. W. Hornung, brother-in-law to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. In his autobiography Doyle wrote of his brother-in-law: "I think I may claim that his famous character Raffles was a kind of inversion of Sherlock Holmes…" Our current episodes are taken directly from the stories by E. W. Hornung and adapted by noted British writer M. J. Elliott.
Portrayed in film by wry and charming actors such as David Niven and Ronald Colman, Jim French Productions’ Raffles is played by veteran theatre and opera performer John Armstrong, currently residing in the Pacific Northwest.
Full of fun and adventure, Raffles and his friend Bunny Manders will entertain you from the first listen, after all, they are very good at being naughty.
In upcoming months look for a new Harry Nile CD (Volume 12), in addition, the new series "The Hilary Caine Mysteries" will debut on radio in May.
