The first single from the Street Politiks album, ‘A Pound and a Promise’ is set for release in mid-December.

LONDON /UCWE/ - The first single from the Street Politiks album, ‘A Pound and a Promise’ is set for release in mid-December. The S.P gang have re-worked the Tracy Chapman classic, ‘Fast Car’ and are ready to take the world by storm.

This timeless song has been given the trademark Street Politiks vibe with production courtesy of Mr Woo (B2K, Deathrow). It captures the atmospheric and melodic essence of the original whilst maintaining the fresh, cutting edge flavour that S.P bring to every beat they lay vocals on.

Lending her strong yet soulful vocals to the familiar chorus hook is Ayak, the 2004 winner of the Urban Music Festival contest that is held each year at Earls Court.

Although ‘Fast Car’ has only been out on promo for a couple of weeks, it has already proved itself a firm favourite within the urban community. The video, which is an artistic and classy piece of filming set in an American Low-rider travelling the streets of London and culminating in a visual stunning church, has been in the MTV Base chart Top 10 for 3 weeks and is gaining more and more momentum on radio, with London’s Choice FM playlisting the single.

With the UK Urban scene evolving, we are now starting to see our homegrown talent competing at the highest levels alongside our American cousins and with tracks like ‘Fast Car’ Street Politiks are sure to be amongst the forerunners when it comes to putting UK Hip Hop on the map.

Look out for ‘F ast Car’ by Street Politiks, due out in all good record shops, December 2005.
