ANCHORAGE, Alaska –HNA Group Co. Limited has closed on its acquisition of Swissport, the world’s largest aviation ground handling and cargo service businesses in the world. Swissport currently operates at the Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport (ANC). This acquisition is significant for ANC, which serves as a nexus between the Asian and North American air cargo market.
According to ANC Airport Manager John Parrott, “This acquisition should only serve to strengthen the strong ties that ANC has with China due to the current global air cargo supply chain routes.”
Swissport currently provides above and below wing ground and passenger handling services including cargo transloading for any type of aircraft. Their customers include Korean Air, Cathay Pacific, Air China, China Southern, Nippon Cargo Airlines, Polar Air Cargo, Japan Airlines, Atlas Air Cargo, Air Canada, Icelandair. Additionally, they provide aircraft maintenance and deicing services as well as a ground service equipment repair facility and fuel sales.
Swissport has been a part of the ANC operation for 52 years. They continue to operate with a high level of experience and excellent performance.
